Late 2024 ukiyo-e delivery
Another nice delivery from Japan and, as is my habit, we start with a print from the play “Okige no kumo harau Asagochi“
Sometimes a relatively small part of a print will attract me to it and make it a “must buy” and in this case it was the top-left corner with the birds and unusual design:
Here is another bird-themed print I just had to have – I wonder if they are from the same play?
The next print is not in good condition and is quite dirty but it is a bit of a classic – the fish scene from the play “Shinza the Barber”, where Shinza (on the right) is conned by his landlord (on the left) into giving up the woman he had kidnapped and losing his dinner at the same time!
Lastly in my featured prints is one that I have a few copies of, where you might not immediately guess why I bought it. The print is by Kunichika but if you check-out the screen in the middle you’ll see it is signed by someone else … Chikayoshi, Kunichika’s wife and student.

Here is a nice unusual series with a red stripe across each page. I’m not sure what the red strip signified so if you know, get in touch 🙂

A few odds and ends
